認出復活的基督（路24:13-35）

我們不一定要在弱小的兄弟身上認出復活了的基督，其實，在我們經常參加的聚會中也可以。耶穌不是說過：「那裡有兩個或三個人，因我的名字聚在一起，我就在他們中間」嗎？（瑪18:20）前往厄瑪烏的兩個門徒的遭遇，正好說明這一點。

首先，「他們彼此談論所發生的一切事」（路24:14）甚麼事？「就是有關納匝肋人耶穌的事…」（24:19）他們在談論耶穌的事，不就是因耶穌的名字聚在一起嗎？看，就在他們談論耶穌的事的時候，耶穌就臨現在他們之中。

其次，認出耶穌的能力，各人都不同。往厄瑪烏的門徒要在擘餅的時候，看見似曾相識的動作纔認出；瑪達肋納在耶穌呼喚她的名字時認出；在提庇黎雅海邊，是耶穌所愛的門徒首先認出；但第一個縱身跳入海裡，游向復活的主的，是伯多祿。

我們的信仰不是單打獨鬥可以實踐的，我們一個人讀聖經的效益是有限的。因此，我們需要兩個或三個，奉復活的主耶穌基督的名，聚會分享，參與彌撒，參加善會，投入教會的服務等。這樣，我們便可以與復活的主相遇。倘若天主願意，或許祂會使我們的眼睛開了，認出祂來。（24:31a）

RECOGNIZING THE RISEN CHRIST (Luke 24:13-35)

We don't need to recognize the risen Christ among the needy and disadvantaged. In fact, we may encounter him in the gatherings we frequently join. Hasn't Jesus said, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them"? (Matthew 18:20) What happened to the two disciples who were returning to Emmaus illustrates just this.

Firstly, they were "talking with each other about all these things that had happened." (Luke 24:14). What things? "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth ..." (24:19). They were talking about Jesus, wasn't that a gathering in Jesus' name? Behold, just when they were talking about Jesus' things, Jesus became present between them.

Secondly, each person is different in their capability to recognize Jesus. The disciples returning to Emmaus recognized when Jesus broke the bread, an action they vaguely remembered that they had seen before. Mary Magdalene recognized when Jesus called out her name. On the sea-side of Lake Tiberias, it was the disciple whom Jesus loved first recognized, but the first one to jump into the water and swam towards the risen Lord was Peter.

We cannot practize our faith alone, in a solidary manner. The benefits of reading the Bible alone are limited. Therefore, we need two or three people, to gather together in the name of the risen Lord Jesus Christ, to share, to celebrate mass, to join the laity associations and to participate in Church services etc. In this way, we may encounter the risen Lord. If God so wish, perhaps He would open our eyes and recognize him (24:31a)
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the visible face of the invisible God. Reveal your countenance and we shall be saved. Amen.
